Strelitzia reginae is commonly called the Bird of Paradise Plant for its exotic flower blooms that resemble a brightly colored bird. Their common name comes from their striking flowers, bright, plumed bloom perched on long stems that look like the crests of tropical birds peeking through the leaves. The large, grey-green leaves are reminiscent of banana leaves, forming a handsome plant. Love it!
I've grown Birds of Paradise inside for longer than I can remember. They go outside in the Spring and back inside in the fall. I have 15 year old artificial birds that I put among the leaves when my plants aren't in bloom. I've searched for years trying to find new artificial flowers to replace those. These are the very bestI I've found, and very similar to what I have. To clarify what others have said about the heads being plastic, they are a pliable rubber like material that more readily simulates real flower heads. The only issue that I have, but not a big one, is that the yellow on the ends is a little vibrant and unlike my real ones. Birds of Paradise are so rare here that I figure no one will notice!
